Welcome to The Ancient Society of York Florists
(a Society for the Amateur Gardener, Grower & Exhibitor
of Fruit, Flowers & Vegetables, Floral Art, Handicrafts & Baking)
we hold the record for 'worlds longest running horticultural show - established 1768'
It is with deep regret that I have to inform fellow members of the death of Jeff Scruton who has been a stalwart of the society since starting showing in 1938. Jeff spent his whole life growing and showing Flowers & Vegetables to the highest of standards. Not many people can grow everything & win trophies with their produce but Jeff could and did on a regular basis. I believe that he is the only person in the societies history to sweep the board and win all the dahlia classes & cups at the september show. He was a font of knowledge who would help anybody and also a judge who was held in the highest of esteem by the many societies and clubs he judged at. A true gentleman who will be greatly missed. I will post funeral details when available. Simon
FUNERAL DETAILS: wednesday 4th April; time: 3.40pm at York crematorium
